David Kav: Tunes
This'll Be The Last Time I'll Ever See You
(David Kav)
February 3, 2012
Music by David Kav/Audrey Tunis, Lyrics by David Kav
This is my first song/contribution to the FAWM Songwriting Challenge in 2012. This piano riff and harmony in the bridge was first written when I was 19 years old. Nothing ever came of the song. Until now.
THIS’LL BE THE LAST TIME I’LL EVER SEE YOU
(Music by David Kav/Audrey Tunis, Lyrics by David Kav)
Old haunts, past laughs
The times we’ve never had
Or rather, the times that we made
About to end, come down
Nothing much more that we can say
We all knew this day would come, or rather, that we would fade
CHORUS:
Now I stand here - watching you take your vows
There’s only so much more I wanted besides this here and now
But I can wish you well and mourn my loss of time
For all that’s left is your happiness and my crooked lines
Traveling down the road due West
You made me feel like I knew best
I was chasing my dream this time, I was gonna make it through
Here I thought I was way ahead
Knew the game - I was going to win just yet
But then the walls came crashing down, reality wanted its just due
CHORUS:
But then it happened - you found someone new
I was in denial but time would reveal it true
Last time before, you told me we would catch up soon
But let’s fast-forward to the days that’ll come clear into view
BRIDGE:
Seems like all we do is fight
Seems like all we do is fight
Seems like all we do is fight
CHORUS:
Now the lights are down - the party’s gone away
And I’m driving off - back to my home at bay
I swear it’s true - This’ll Be The Last Time I’ll Ever See You
And it’s all for the best - ‘cause if anyone deserves happiness - it’s you
