So, I'm posting this in the News section to let you know that I posted a blog in my Blog section.

It's no biggie. For the most part, it's really a Copy/Paste of an article/interview with Trent Reznor via TuneCore (www.tunecore.com.) I'm urging ALL Artists/musicians to read the article. Even if you're NOT an artist, you can find a LOT of truths in it. Regardless of your views/beliefs of/about Trent Reznor, a couple of things are clear: He has matured and he knows what he is talking about through the greatest teacher of all: Experience.

Peace, love, music, laughter, life, charity, art,
D Kav

MARCH 3rd, 2012 - 1pm to 5pm - Blue Chip Casino, Michigan City, IN (www.bluechipcasino.com)
I can totally understand as to why Petar geeked out about playing here at Blue Chip Casino before my first gig at the joint on Sun. Jan. 22nd. I've been "bit by the bug!" The crowd was great in its reception to us! It was/is infectious (in a good way.) If you're in the Michigan City area, THIS is where you want to be on Sun.
After the blackouts: What's next for SOPA? (Taken from Yahoo! News 1/19/12)

Before I copy/paste the following news information taken directly from Yahoo! News on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, I wanted to give a HUGE "Thank You" From the bottom of my heart to EVERYONE who participated in this blackout and to all of those who showed their support in this movement in ANY way (i.e. Signing petitions, calling senators, spreading the word, etc.) It ALL helped!

I haven't believed in any movement THIS much since the former Mayor Richard M. Daley tried to pass the much-failed Promoter's Ordinance back in 2008-2009.

Thank you, again, for supporting independent artists, musicians, thinkers!

Peace, love, music, laughter, life, charity, art,
D Kav

After the blackouts: What's next for SOPA?

By The Week's Editorial Staff (for the direct link: (http://news.yahoo.com/blackouts-whats-next-sopa-155000746.html)

After web-wide blackouts protesting controversial anti-piracy bills, former supporters from both parties appear to be fleeing the legislation. Is SOPA dead?
The fight over the House's Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Senate's companion Protect IP Act (PIPA) is a largely a proxy war between two of California's biggest industries: The movie and music industries on the pro-SOPA/PIPA side and the Silicon Valley tech enclave on the other. On Wednesday, the tech side flexed its muscle — Wikipedia and scores of other websites went dark in protest, 4.5 million people signed Google's petition against the bills, and SOPA/PIPA opponents flooded Congressional phone lines and websites — and Congress apparently took note. An impressive number of lawmakers dropped their support for the bills, and legislation that was soaring through Congress not too long ago now appears to be on the verge of crashing or being completely revamped. What's next for the controversial anti-piracy measures?
Did the web blackouts really move the needle?
It's hardly a coincidence that lawmakers "are rushing for the exits in the wake of the internet's unprecedented protest," says Timothy B. Lee in Ars Technica. At least 18 Senators just came out in opposition to PIPA or withdrew their support, including seven former co-sponsors. House members are defecting in significant numbers, too. Most of the new defectors are Republicans, which is notable because conservatives "have traditionally been strong supporters of copyright and trademark protection," says Jon Healey in the Los Angeles Times.

Again, THANK YOU!
Why We Don’t Like SOPA

...The Internet is a global creature. A “Made in the USA” solution will no more work to stop the problems talked of than would one made in any other single nation state. Worse, the US has been at the forefront of ensuring that the Internet has remained free and a platform for innovation for the last fifteen years. With SOPA, or ProtectIP, that leadership will effectively end and Syria, China, Iran and others will not only use the US as a role model, they will also use these actions as further evidence of US control of the Internet and justification for trying to turn it over to the UN/ITU. This is best described by Susan Crawford.

Worse, the legislation itself is fundamentally corrupt. It is bought and paid for by big media, trying vainly to protect anachronistic business models. This has been demonstrated clearly in all of the hearings and the very conduct of the debate. Listening to how deeply uninformed those being asked to legislate this issue are has been nothing short of scary. Watching how support and opposition has lined up has been disheartening. This is the worst example of the kind of fundamental corruption that is at the heart of the US political system currently and is well defined by Professor Larry Lessig. If you have ten minutes please watch this video on the subject. If you have an hour please watch this one.

The Internet is not a corpus, it is not a thing. It is a series of protocols, which are really agreements on how computers will behave when connected to the Internet. Treating the Internet like a thing to be legislated and controlled is as ill conceived as treating “Intellectual Property” like physical property and leads to even greater perversions. If governments squeeze too tightly, the Internet as we know it will simply get up and walk away. It will fracture and split with a “clean” Internet and a much larger Darknet. than there is today, but not one used mainly for file sharing. Instead the Darknet will become the real Internet. Brands will sell things and Media will offer content on the “Cleannet”, but the Darknet will be where ideas are shared, plans are made, memes are propagated and where most of the cool people, including most of our children, will be.

Prohibitions have never worked to change behaviours. They simply make people who fear things feel good and create a new mini-industry for fear mongers to make money off of. They do not change behaviours.

If you wish to get involved we suggest you visit Stop American Censorship, BlackoutSOPA.org...

New "Holiday" layout, new bio, new "news"

Hey, everyone!

NEW WEBSITE, NEW BLOG! FREE ALBUMS! (Now that I got your attention...) :D

Happy Holidays! Can NOT believe that the Winter Solstice is now upon us! WHERE did 2011 go? Hope that the season is treating everyone well and that, whatever your plans may be for this time of year, that you are safe, happy and prosperous. :)

So, I decided to mix things up a bit and changed the layout. Hope you like it. I went with green since it's one of the two Pagan/Holiday/Christmas colors. Ain't gonna lie: I also like that it's one of my pics in the background (courtesy and MANY thanks to Barbara Weigand: Our manager of the awesome new group that I'm in: Classical Blast!)

Also, NEW bio! Decided to post it here. Lemme know what you think either on my FB page: www.facebook.com/davidkav OR by email: info@davidkav.com. Entries/thoughts will get you a free download card of KAVUS' Debut Album from now until the end of the year! Thanks for reading it in advance!

Peace, love, music, laughter, joy for the Holiday Season (thank you for being in my "corner." You truly help me in MANY ways,)
David Kav

BIO UPDATED on December 21, 2011:
David Kav is no stranger to the world of music (and/or performing for that matter.) David has been playing the acoustic guitar since the age of 14. He has been singing for MUCH longer. We can blame the genes (since Mom was a piano player and a cellist in her early life and Dad was a guitarist/vocalist and musician as well.) We can blame the classic rock that David was inundated with (growing up on Journey's album "Infinity," Boston's Debut Album, Electric Light Orchestra's "Out Of The Blue" and the like.) However, more appropriately, it wasn't until he heard U2's Debut Album "Boy" at the age of 6 that music got him in a stranglehold:

"My aunt gave me a cassette tape of U2's album 'Boy.' She said, 'this is for you, David. I think you'll really like it.' I was just excited at the time to get something from my cool, rock 'n roll/punk aunt and thought, 'ok. New toy to play with. I'll play this on my tape recorder when I get home.' So, I did. Numerous times.

"It didn't hit me until one day, I was playing the tape while in my HUGE bedroom (which was more like a giant playground. Really cool.) I was playing some sort of game with my sister and the song "A Day Without Me" was playing through the tape player. All of a sudden, Bono goes into the a cappella portion of the song where he sings...

'Wipe that tear...from the get-go-a-ooooooooo-MNAH'

"It was that last part and the influctuation therein in that line that struck me. I looked at the recorder and heard the transposition of the song. I thought, deep down, 'wow....I wanna do THAT. I wanna be just like him.' Guilty (laughs.)"

Since that moment, David would ham it up and sing when he could. Fast forward to 2011: David has released two self-produced albums: "Look Into My Eyes" (about to be out-of-print. Limited copies still available,) and "Better You Here Than Alone." David has, since then, produced a Debut Album with his two-man band, KAVUS called "Nice To Meet You Again" courtesy of CAUDog Records (www.caudogrecords.com) and is set to release an EP containing recordings from the Legendary Sun Studios in Memphis in 2012.

David's latest project is with the eclectic classic/contemporary band, Classical Blast: "Classic rock with a classical twist." David was discovered by cellist Petar Kecenovici from a video on YouTube. After reading his extensive resume (Petar has played with Dennis DeYoung, Randy Jackson, George Benson, Jordin Sparks and Clay Aiken, as well as with groups Cheap Trick, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, il Divo and others,) David said, "I HAVE to do this!!!" David is ecstatic that he actually listened to his instincts to jump aboard the Classical Blast train.

All in all, 2012 is proving (already) to be an epic year with works in store from KAVUS, Classical Blast, and, of course, David Kav.
